HBI managed the ATEX inspection contract, overseeing the completion of 11,000 inspections over a three-year period. The project involved a comprehensive range of activities to ensure the project’s successful execution, including:
-
Evaluation and Implementation of Inspection Tools: HBI was responsible for assessing the existing software tools and hardware used to capture inspection data. This evaluation led to the implementation of a new inspection software system, which included the development of customised forms and the integration of site asset data to align with SAP maintenance work orders, ensuring streamlined operations and accurate data capture.
-
Training and Development: HBI provided hands-on training for the onsite teams to ensure they were proficient with the new software system, ensuring smooth transitions and minimising downtime during the implementation phase.
-
Ongoing Contract Management: HBI took charge of the day-to-day management of the contract, ensuring inspections were conducted on schedule and to the highest standards. This also involved regular progress reporting to stakeholders, addressing any challenges, and ensuring that all project milestones were met in a timely manner.
In addition to the inspection contract management, HBI was also responsible for the design and specification of safety-critical systems, including:
-
Intrinsically Safe DSD Circuits: HBI designed and specified intrinsically safe circuits for the safe operation of electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, ensuring compliance with ATEX standards.
-
ATEX Enclosures: HBI oversaw the design and specification of ‘Ex d’ enclosures for retrofitting non-ATEX equipment to meet safety standards, as well as ‘Ex p’ enclosures for non-ATEX analysers, which allowed for safe operation in hazardous environments.
-
Custom Interface Panels: HBI also designed and specified custom interface panels for clean room applications, ensuring these panels met stringent safety and operational requirements while providing ease of use in high-security environments.
Through these efforts, HBI ensured that the inspection process was not only efficient but also fully compliant with safety regulations, while also enhancing the reliability and operational integrity of the equipment involved.
