LIAM BLADES

Director of Strategy and Operations / Co-founder.

Liam Blades entered the engineering industry through an electrical and instrumentation apprenticeship, which laid the groundwork for his extensive career. He has successfully advanced through various roles, including EC&I Technician, EC&I Supervisor, QA/QC, Project Management, and TAR EC&I Delivery Lead. In 2024, following a restructuring of the business, Liam transitioned into the position of Director of Strategy and Operations, where he emphasised on expanding the reach of the newly restructured HBI Group.
 
Liam envisions HBI as an integral part of the local community, actively engaging with its foundational pillars. His goal is to drive the business forward, further enhancing HBI’s reputation as an established EC&I engineering contractor that supports and strengthens the wider network. Since co-founding the company with Ashley Greenbeck in 2017, Liam has been committed to fostering community engagement while maintaining operational excellence.

ASHLEY GREENBECK

Director of Service Operations / Co-founder

Ashley Greenbeck began his career in the engineering industry through an electrical and instrumentation apprenticeship, which set the foundation for his diverse professional journey. He has advanced through various roles, including EC&ITechnician, EC&I Supervisor, QA/QC, CAPEX Projects Delivery, and Operations Director.
 
With a strong background in these positions, Ashley has developed a comprehensive understanding of the engineering lifecycle. Ash’s expertise shines in the project delivery phase of the engineering lifecycle, where he has made significant improvements to engineering process workflows.
Leading a dedicated team, he focuses on delivering proactive and compliant solutions that meet the needs of clients. Since co-founding the company with Liam Blades in 2017, Ash has remained committed to operational excellence and fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement.

ROBERT PETCHEY

Director of Technical Operations  

(HBI Functional Safety & Engineering)

Robert Petchey began his career in the engineering industry through an electrical and instrumentation apprenticeship with a Humber Bank-based client. He has since advanced through various roles, including Instrumentation Technician, Instrumentation Designer, Project Instrument Engineer, EC&I Section Lead, and Senior EC&I Engineer. In 2024, Robert joined the HBI Group as a shareholder and was appointed Director of Technical Operations.
 

Robert possesses a multitude of qualifications, including CompEX Ex12a (Non-intrinsically safe equipment) and Ex12b (Intrinsically safe equipment), as well as FS Eng TUV Rhineland. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Instrumentation and Control Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer with Inst MC. His expertise also includes practical aspects of DSEAR (Industrial Explosion Safety).

Robert is passionate about providing engineering deliverables that ensure
compliance with engineering standards. He is dedicated to delivering front-end
engineering lifecycle functions with meticulous attention to detail and high standards.
 
As Director of Technical Operations, Robert aims to drive innovation and excellence
within the engineering processes at HBI, ensuring that the company continues to
meet and exceed industry expectations.
